Dear Colleagues, today we are presenting to the Italian Trade Union representatives our plans to start the process of 'Cassa Integrazione Guadagni' for Radio Access Business Unit in Italy.
We already communicated in July that Nokia Siemens Networks’ GSM/EDGE specific business will decline significantly and therefore our OPEX spending needs to go down accordingly. In Italy, we are now planning additional steps to support the market evolution and our strategy by responding to this trend and taking all possible measures to maintain our R&D competitiveness in the heavily competed market. In addition, we have communicated that Multiradio development is not part of Radio Access site strategy for Milan.
In total there are around 300 employees in Radio Access Business Unit in Milan who may be in the scope of the proposed measures. 'Cassa Integrazione Guadagni' process has been planned to take place during October - December 2009, which is also subject to negotiations with the Trade Union representatives.
All these proposed measures will be discussed with the respective Employee and Trade Union representatives in Italy. The negotiations are planned be finalized within the next 25 days, after which we will inform you about the outcome. The proposed measures May be applied with different impact on specific teams, proportionally to respecto business environments demands.
These kinds of Planned Measures are never easy to take, and They Also impact the BCS business units in Italy, But by making These additional adjustments now, We Will Be Able to Maintain Our competitiveness in the ever Tighter market situation. Marc
